SoMoPro – 4th Call for proposals – Incoming Grants (IG)

SoMoPro is a regional analogy of Marie Curie fellowship programme operated in South Moravia.


Who can apply?

Researchers of any nationality who at the date of the deadline are in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least 4 years of full-time or equivalent research experience after obtaining a degree allowing them to enrol in a doctoral study programme in the country in which the degree/diploma was obtained or in the Czech Republic.

Researchers may be nationals of any country and must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the Czech Republic for more than 12 months in the last 3 years prior to the deadline of proposal submission. The researcher applies jointly with a host institution. Host institution is a public research organisation located or operating in the region of South Moravia (;TypeID=1 ). Female researchers and researchers after career break are encouraged to apply.


Which research areas are supported?

SoMoPro supports research in science, technology and medicine (Humanities and Social sciences are not included).

How does it work?

After the publication of the call, proposals are submitted jointly by the host institution and the individual researcher – within the deadlines. Proposals are evaluated by external independent experts according to standardized criteria, including scientific excellence and impact of the research. If the proposal is selected, the Regional Authority of the South Moravian Region signs a grant agreement with the host institution. The host institution signs an employment contract with the researcher.


What does the funding cover?

Funding is provided to cover the expenses related to the researcher and the project including:

- Living allowance – a salary for the researcher that involves all wage deductions of both the employer and the employee;
- Travel and mobility allowance;
- Research cost contribution;
- Contribution to overheads.



SoMoPro Incoming grants have a minimum duration of 12 months up to a maximum of 36 months. All projects must be completed by December 31, 2016.

Indicative Timetable:

• Deadline – September 16, 2013, 24:00 CET
• Mid-September 2013 – acknowledgement receipt sent to applicants
• October 2013 – non-eligible applicants notified
• December 2013 – January 2014 – results of the scientific evaluation sent to the applicants
– successful applicants will be invited to negotiation
• January-February 2014 – negotiation of the grant agreement
• February 2014 – signature of the first Grant agreements
The decision on grant funding by The Regional Authority of the South Moravian Region is final – there is no right of appeal.
