The European Commission has published its call for proposals ERC Synergy Grant, which is part the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
Collaboration between different researchers from various disciplines, in particular when taking place within the same facilities, can lead to groundbreaking ideas and findings. With this call coming under the Work Programme ‘Ideas”, the ERC will provide support to such collaborative research projects.
ERC Synergy Grants consist in the creation of consortia of two to four principal investigators and their teams, in order to bring together complementary skills, knowledge, and resources in new ways. By doing so, they will be able to jointly address research problems. The aim is to promote substantial advances at the frontiers of knowledge by encouraging unconventional approaches and investigations at the interface between established disciplines.
